Join and support Guadeloupean youth at the heart of the church
In Guadeloupe, everyone remembers the Saint Jean Bosco institution, which in Gourbeyre, enabled boys to return to work...
Today, the Saint Luke Parish, located in a priority urban neighborhood, on the outskirts of Pointe-à-Pitre, entrusted to the Salesian brothers (the congregation founded by Don Bosco), continues this legacy, but in the heart of the city.
We are implementing Salesian pedagogy through faith formation and empowerment for 15-22 year olds.
A world-renowned pedagogy
The challenge is high. In the high schools adjacent to the parish, there have been three assaults reported by the press in the last four years...
We see the dual relevance of Salesian pedagogy daily, present in 138 countries, for keeping young people connected to the Church, and for offering them an alternative path to the one conveyed by social media or on the «streets,» through:
- An open, welcoming, and stimulating place to live: scouting, Catholic Children's Action (ACE), as well as activities and outings during high school holidays...
- A place for engagement: training courses for facilitators, solidarity meals, musical comedy, Christmas market…
- A place of cultural roots, prayer, and reflection: debates, youth Mass, retreat days, choir, traditional percussion group...

Our projects
OUR PROJECTS
All of our actions and projects are 100%% based on volunteer work. In 2024, by accumulating volunteer hours, we reached an annual FTE of 1.6! This is considerable. Our gratitude goes out to all the parish volunteers who give so much of their skills and time.
To continue moving forward and empower this superb team to do quality work, we need a financial «boost»:
- Evolve the catechetical proposal for middle schoolers towards the functioning of a chaplaincy for a group of 60 adolescents. This requires the implementation of digital, artistic, and cultural workshops. Estimated budget of €500.,
- Create an inter-parish chaplaincy for high school students. This requires an operating budget to regularly welcome young people during lunchtime and to offer an annual retreat. Estimated budget of €400.,
- Form a group of parish leaders, with Bafa training in July-August 2026 and a study trip in Europe (Campo Bosco, pilgrimage to Turin, twinning with an Italian youth center). Estimated budget of €1,100.

For example, renting a bus for a trip for 50 people costs €300, filling the minivan costs €110, a snack for a large event costs €60, and a pizza or agoulou evening, where the young people prepare the meal themselves, costs €90.
If you wish to sponsor a young person, for example, participation in a 5-day camp costs €110. If you wish to cover the salary of a facilitator for 5 days, to encourage responsibility and strengthen the employability of those who get involved, this amounts to €300.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it…

All of our actions are based on volunteer work and the donations we receive. The role of all our friends is to spread the word about our project: on social media, to their loved ones, by sharing the link to this project. As they say in Guadeloupe, it's the grains of rice that make the bag of rice! Indeed, even small donations are essential.
