A global network

Both are at the heart of a broader and international network from« Don Bosco Houses »Present in over 136 countries, this network supports or runs nearly 8,500 diverse projects, welcoming over 2 million young people in schools, vocational training centers, social action or prevention centers, and parishes.

A unique pedagogy

Professionals, educators, and facilitators are trained to preventive pedagogy initiated by its founder Don Bosco (1815-1888). Based on a relationship of trust, this pedagogy discerns and develops the potential of each young person by relying on reason and the dialogue, on the heart and respectful affection, and on a Search for meaning, of Peace, solidarity, and social justice.

“We believe that education is the essential step to create a more just and humane world and to improve everyone's life.”

Jean Bosco, the great educator

While visiting the prisons of Turin in 1841, John Bosco perceived the need for his work: he launched his first «oratories» in a poor district of the city, Valdocco, offering leisure activities, cultural enrichment, and a deepening of Christian life. Starting in 1859, he founded a broad network of educators, committed and convinced that prevention is better than repression, certain that “educability” is possible for every young person!
