Association for Support of Technical Schools in Africa (ASETA)

Discover ASETA...

Among all the projects undertaken by the Don Bosco Foundation, those formerly supported by ASETA (Association for the Support of Technical Schools in Africa) hold a special place.

Indeed, this association, now fully integrated into the Foundation, was created in 1993 by Pierre and Nicole PRIE upon their return to France after 25 years of teaching in Africa. It was born from the alarming realization of the lack of resources for vocational training workshops and the absence of a support structure in France or Africa.

With you, the Don Bosco Foundation can continue to support these schools. Donate via the website or by mail to the Foundation for Technical Schools in Africa.

Families and friends quickly became involved in the project

For almost fifteen years, aid has primarily been provided through the purchase, reclamation, and shipment of small tools, technical documentation, preparation of specific courses, and teaching materials for around thirty schools supported in 14 French-speaking African countries, thanks to its loyal donors and actions of solidarity and fraternity.

To the Don Bosco Foundation

However, to cope with a task that had become increasingly burdensome for its volunteers, and desiring to ensure the long-term sustainability of Aseta's work, the association turned to the Don Bosco Foundation in 2008 to respond to schools' requests and manage donations. Their goal is the same: the training of young people in technical and vocational institutions.

Indeed, the global network of DON BOSCO institutions is widely represented in Africa with technical and vocational schools that offer young people recognized training adapted to the local job market.

Aid to technical schools continues with the Don Bosco Foundation

Indeed, from that moment on, aid began to be provided differently, adapting to the evolving economic environment. More or less parcel shipments, but financial responses to schools' requests for materials and books, which are purchased locally.

Donors to the historical association are being solicited. They are the first to give so that the youth of these African countries can be trained, and actively participate in the economic development of their region and their country.
